History of The Music
Kevin Rice has been writing
and performing contemporary Christian music for the last twenty years. After
spending time on the road as the drummer for a local southern gospel group in
the mid 1980s, Kevin began writing music of his own. Also a self taught piano
player, Rice put together several songs that he would perform for area youth
groups and churches over the next few years. As interest in these new songs
began to grow, many people encouraged Kevin to record an album. It was at this
time that he signed with independent record label, Psalm Records. In 1994 they
released Rice’s first project entitled “Look Up.” The album received rave
reviews in Nashville’s Cashbox Magazine and scored a top ten single on the
Jukebox America radio charts with the song “Glory Train.”
Rice would stay with Psalm Records for a second album, “Player In The Game”
before forming his own independent label “Forecast Records” in 1999. In the year
2000, Kevin and his band, “The Forecast” released a third album entitled
“Shine.” This album continued to showcase the group’s unique style of writing
Christian lyrics to a southern rock background. In 2003, the band recorded a
fourth album, “Acoustic Sunday Night” that has received tremendous response from
listeners. This album is an all acoustic collection of some of their most
popular songs as well as several brand new tunes. Today, Kevin Rice and his band
continue to travel throughout the eastern United States sharing their music with
people of all ages. Kevin has had the opportunity to share his music with people
from all walks of life over the past 20 years and it’s safe to say that he’ll
continue as long as God allows him to do so.
